Burlington Automation Division in Hamilton, ON specializes in the design and manufacture of automatic CNC metal fabrication machinery, tube finishing and material handling equipment

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to the group supporting individuals having difficulty solving problems
• Lead daily scrum
• Robust ability to set and validate timelines
• Accurately report project status to project facilitator
• Control software release
• Ensure source repository processes are being followed
• Participate in twice weekly review meetings with offsite group manager
• Provide input to performance reviews
• Complete full life cycle development using structured design methodologies including test driven development, unit testing, code reviews and scrum for our range of I beam plasma cutting systems
• Managing s/w QA&QC( writing regression, unit, stress tests both automated and manual)
• Write product requirements by liaising with sales, support and engineers to create the functional definitions and complimentary test specs
• Develop new functionality for the product line
• Engineer, develop, test and maintain Windows services and applications
• Diagnose, fix bugs and write unit tests to validate solution
• Work closely with test analyst to develop regression and automated test systems
• Manage assigned tasks across concurrent projects and deliver on time against agreed milestones
• Plan and give estimated timelines with supporting backup data
• Communicate with internal staff to gain a clear understanding of voice of customer
• Maintain awareness of competitive or disruptive technologies
• Rapid delivery of quality software using Agile development methodology
• Effectively communicate early risks to delivery of tasks and milestones
• Work effectively within a cross-functional team to deliver quality products on time
• Follow software repository management policy
• Follow software design methodology policy
• Provide estimates based on functional requirements
• Participate in the code review process, provide feedback to team members
• Other duties as assigned by the Director, Motion Control

Minimum Education Requirement:

Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering discipline (4 or 5 year)

Minimum Experience & Training Requirement:

• 5+ years commercial software development experience developing software applications
• Strong and current commercial programming experience in C#/VB or similar object oriented language
• Deep understanding to create and work with a 3D graphic engine
• Strong understanding of geometric robot planning
• Strong understanding of multi-threaded parallel processing methodologies
• Strong geometry and generic math skills
• Strong software design skills
• Strong understanding of computer aided design (CAD) processes
• Strong understanding of computer numerical control (CNC) machine path planning
• Strong understanding of robot controller and motion principles
