Liberation Group Hiring for Group Financial Controller Job at Wrington, England Full Time

Liberation Group are looking for a Group Financial Controller to join the Finance team on a Fixed Term Contract of approximately 10 months to cover parental leave from July 2022 through to April 2023. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a multi award winning group in a pivotal role on a contract basis.

Liberation Group is an award-winning group comprising premium, food led pubs and brewing and distribution businesses across the South-West of England and the Channel Islands, operating under the Butcombe brand in the UK and the Liberation brand in Jersey and Guernsey.

Our central roles in Finance, People, Marketing, and Property provide support to the whole group and have colleagues based in all three islands.

The Group Financial Controller (GFC) is responsible for all groupwide internal and external reporting and consolidation of the group’s Pubs and Drinks divisions across the UK and the Channel Islands. As well as the usual cycle of life in a GFC role the contract period is expected to see integrating acquisitions, a group refinancing to raise additional bank funding and a groupwide Management Information project rolling out Microsoft Power BI.

The essential requirement is to be a qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE and prior experience of a GFC role, preferably in the pubs or hospitality sector and/or in a Private Equity backed, leverage financed group.

The finance team is mainly based in Wrington south of Bristol working on a hybrid basis c3 days a week in the office, but this role can be done largely remotely with occasional travel to Wrington and the Channel Islands.

Key responsibilities

• Weekly group wide sales reports and monthly consolidated financial reporting to the group board, investors and banks.
• Lead role on management of external audit including liaison with divisional finance teams.
• Lead relationship with banking syndicate and Agent on all compliance and operational banking matters.
• Tax compliance responsibility across the group with the help of Deloitte tax advisors.
• Provide support to business unit finance teams on technical accounting treatments and compliance with FRS102 (e.g. annual impairment reviews, dilapidations provisions, deferred tax accounting).
• Continuous development of management reporting and controls.
