Position Summary

DRS Network & Imaging Systems in Cypress, CA is part of the Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems Group of Leonardo DRS and has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing electro-optical / infrared systems.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Intern to join the company to support engineering staff by performing research, design support, documentation, engineering calculations, testing and verification, and other related tasks as skills allow.

They will work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments. The candidate must be a well-organized self-starter, able to work in a team environment, have good communication and technical skills, and able to professionally interact with others.

Basic Qualifications and Required Skills

• Degree(s) Required : Associate degree or 3rd Year status minimum in an Engineering curriculum
• Degree(s) Preferred : Pursuing undergraduate, Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• Must be enrolled in an accredited university and maintain a 3.3or higher GPA
• Be available to work part-time (
• U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of basic circuit design and simulation – Digital and / or Analog
• Familiar with engineering design and simulation tools : Orcad, SPICE, ModelSim, etc.
• Familiar with FPGA devices and high-level design language : VHDL / Verilog
• Working experience in using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other lab equipment, to validate designs
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
• Provide regular ing of progress and status
• Complete assigned tasks on time
• Circuit-level simulation and verification
• Documentation of design, verification, and testing
• Conduct design analysis and / or calculations under the supervision of engineers
• Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs, and practices
• Complete assigned tasks on time
• Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization

The pay scale for this position is $20.81 / hour – $29.76 / hour . The pay scale information is a general guideline only.
