The Leidos Defense Group has an immediate opening in a fast paced operations and development lab environment supporting a 24x7x365 Research Development community. We are seeking an experienced mid-level Linux Engineer with Windows experience to join our team in support of a Leidos Prime Program in providing engineering, administration and operational support for our mission network. The candidate will need a proactive attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to integrate into an existing technical team. Candidate should have hands on experience with COTs and GOTS software.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for Linux and Windows solution development and planning to meet customer needs including requirements gathering, preparing the engineering solution which may include integration with multiple technologies (systems, network, virtualization, etc) within the data center, implementation, testing, deployment to production and operation and customer support throughout the process.
Communicate projects, plan details and technical information to the team members, customers, vendors and subcontractors.
Develop and recommend technical recommendations to leadership which involves applying prior expertise, understanding of technical tenants and concepts and best practices.
Developing project plan and customer presentation to include evaluating products, cost comparisons and risk assessment and impact on the data center.
Implement operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration.
Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning.
Assist with daily activities of data center systems operations.
Provide health monitoring of systems, storage and networking.
Review and implement Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIGs).
Assist customers with issues involving every aspect of the Data Center.
Prepare and update documentation including work instructions, standard operating procedures, system As-Builts and other training materials.
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree with 8+ years of prior relevant experience, or Masters with 6+ years prior experience or additional relevant working experience in lieu of degree.
Ability to installation of complex software suites and integration of these packages into the data center and processes.
Must have Security+ (or equivalent) certification.
Must have relevant vendor certification such a Red Hat or applicable trainings.
Ability to work at customer location.
Preferred Qualifications:
Red Hat Linux engineering experience.
Microsoft operations experience.
Maintaining security posture including patching, scanning, updating.
Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) review and implementation.
PowerShell scripting experience a plus.
Virtualization configuration and maintenance a plus.
