Play a key role in ensuring excellent inclusion for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join SEND Support Service. You’ll work collaboratively with services and schools to provide advice and support in terms of inclusive practice and preventative strategies in accordance with the Code of Practice and promote the successful inclusion of children with SEND.
This is a fast-paced role which will be vital in supporting schools to make the best inclusive provision using funding effectively and efficiently. You’ll develop and lead on inclusive quality provision for children with SEND to improve outcomes and ensure best practice. You’ll be responsible for liaising with schools to promote the BERA Framework and Audits supporting Element 3 requests.
Based at New Parks House, you’ll join a team of professionals and facilitate the sharing of good inclusive practices and networking across Leicester city schools. You’ll be required to travel citywide to provide training where needed and at bespoke events.
This is a full-time, permanent, term contract working 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Your salary will be based on Teacher’s pay and conditions, Lead Practitioner Scale 1-8.
Appointment to the scale will be dependent on experience.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll assess the progress and attainment of pupils in receipt of Element 3 funding to monitor effectiveness, considering reasonable adjustments and best endeavours and promoting these values to all staff across educational settings. As a strong advocate for inclusion, you’ll develop, plan, and deliver training regarding best practice for education staff as well as deliver demonstration classes and interventions for pupils with SEND. You’ll work closely with Headteachers, SENCOs and class/subject teachers to develop attitudes and skills to ensure that all teachers are demonstrating best practice to achieve positive outcomes.
What you’ll need
With Qualified Teacher Status you’ll have substantial experience of working in the field of SEND teaching as well as whole school development work around the inclusion of pupils with SEND. Using excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to liaise with schools and SEND services to develop and implement effective processes, ensuring that funding is provided and used appropriately. As a positive communicator, you’ll make use of your abilities to motivate, influence, and persuade others by chairing meetings and delivering engaging training sessions. Thinking creatively, you’ll be able to negotiate with tact and diplomacy. Using proficient IT skills, you’ll be able to clearly present guidance on policy, write proposals for change and prepare complex reports to evidence findings. You’ll be able to confidently interpret and explain complex legislation to others, presenting statistical and technical data in a range of formats to suit a variety of audiences.
