Your role at a glance
You will be supporting the financial Business Partners in performance monitoring, reporting, forecasting and support for any financial themes emerging
Consolidation of financial analysis and preparation of monthly Performance MI at the sector level to be distributed to LGC’s senior management team, sector leads and investment leads
Preparing monthly forecasts and assisting with scenario planning to support the central planning, commercial insight, and options analysis, with focus on profit generation, liquidity strategy, market opportunity and sector concentrations
Supporting the coordination of LGC’s divisional planning process to establish sector-level strategic priorities
Supporting the financial due diligence process for new investments, including detailed financial analysis and review and in some cases preparation of underlying business models
The role also includes playing an active role in implementing and applying a strong financial control environment, with robust systems and processes, review and data accuracy.
Principal Investing and Housing Finance Team
The Principal Investing portfolio ranges from investments that provide private debt to mid-market companies to venture capital fund managers who invest in early stage ventures. The Housing portfolio is diverse, from traditional house building to modular housing. The portfolio covers affordable housing, and across tenures from Build to Sell to Build to Rent. Principal Investing and Housing Investments support L&G’s aim to invest in UK economic growth and manufacture and deliver assets to the rest of the L&G Group.
The Principal Investing and Housing Finance team works alongside the underlying portfolio companies, supporting them in communicating their performance and in their corporate activity. The team is small and relies heavily on strong relationships with the underlying businesses and with senior management in LGC and hence good communication skills and being well organised is important. We welcome candidates who have specific experience from the sectors in which we operate, however if you are keen to learn and believe you can add value we would also be like to hear from you. A strong attention to detail, a collaborative approach and a commitment to adding value are important to succeed in this role.
LGC as a division:
Legal & General Capital (LGC) is the principal investment arm of L&G, managing assets of nearly £9.0bn. It was founded in 2013 to actively invest the Group’s own balance sheet into strategic businesses in order to enhance risk-adjusted returns for shareholders and manufacture assets for the rest of the Group. We are growing fast: at H2 2021 our alternative asset portfolio grew to over £3.4bn (up 10% year-on-year). In addition, LGC manages £5.2bn of Traded and Treasury investments.
We focus our investment on addressing long-term trends for the benefit of the Group and society as a whole; our sectors cover Housing, Future Cities (Clean Energy and Specialist Commercial Real Estate) and providing today’s capital through our SME Finance and venture capital strategies. LGC investment has a long-term focus. We identify areas which are economically crucial, structurally underfunded, and require long term finance well matched to the type Legal & General and its clients can provide.

What you’ll be doing

What we’re looking for
Qualifications:
ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualified or part-qualified
Knowledge:
Strong accounting experience (IFRS)
Knowledge or experience of Venture Capital, Private Debt or Housing desirable
Strong excel skills and financial modelling desirable
Experience:
Relevant experience preparing high quality financial analysis and papers
Demonstrable experience of working to tight deadlines and stakeholder management
Financial modelling experience encouraged
Leadership:
Strong stakeholder management
