Legacy Charter School is a high-performing public charter school holistically educating 500 scholars in pre-k through 8th grade in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. Our mission is to create an outstanding center for teaching and learning for children and their families that will recognize and nurture the full potential of every child, provide a foundation for a college education, and educate our scholars to be creative and critical thinkers and responsible citizens in school, at home, and in the broader community.

POSITION SUMMARY
The 7th and 8th grade science teacher provides our scholars with consistent, joyful, rigorous social-emotional and cognitive learning experiences that are well-planned, culturally relevant, data-informed and rooted in engaging pedagogy. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate:

• Teach science subject in accordance with school district procedures, Legacy curriculum design, and NGSS Standards.
• Develop rigorous and engaging classroom learning environment for all students.
• Use innovative instructional methodologies/materials to conduct classes and labs in a proactive, stimulating and effective manner.
• Develop and implement coherent Amplify curriculum plan to ensure scholar academic development.
• Develop lesson plans and materials to ensure scholar academic success.
• Maintain neat and clean classroom environment.
• Coordinate with the Middle School Instructional Leader and other teachers to continuously improve curriculum plan for all scholars.
• Maintain accurate and complete scholar records such as progress s, attendance s, parent communication logs, etc. as defined by school policy and administration.
• Participate in curriculum development programs, staff development programs, Instructional Collaborative Team and faculty meetings, and other school committee activities as required.
• Identify learning problems of students and provide additional assistance/support needed as guided by the MTSS process
• Assist in organizing and maintaining school supplies, resources, and facilities.
• Assist in general supervision and management of students inside and outside the classroom.
• Develop student behavioral standards to maintain safe and disciplined environment within classrooms and entire school.

Required

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Two years or more of full-time teaching experience in an urban setting.
• Illinois Professional Educator License or equivalent, with an Middle School Science Endorsement highly preferred.

Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. A competitive benefits package will also be offered.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
