Director of Training and Staff Development
Job Summary:
The Director of Training and Staff Development is a management position. This person will embrace Ledgers vision set by Management, own it, articulate it and drive it to completion. This position will be a guide to our Accounting team, teaching, training and developing our valuable team of over 15 Accountants.

Bachelor’s degree or related experience in Accounting

Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods
Strong supervisory and leadership skills

Ability to maintain confidential information
Independently use and be able to train staff on Quickbooks, Excel, Word and many other office related software programs
Ability to advise staff on SD Sales, Use and Excise tax
Must possess relevant knowledge to perform and train on all aspects of Payroll and General
Ledger Accounting
Extensive understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, quarterly and annual payroll reporting.
Knowledge of 401k and retirement reporting, wage and hour laws
Ability to focus in a fast paced, quickly changing environment and multi task with minimal mistakes
Job Duties:
Coordinate all staff training
Initiates, reviews and enforces Training Policies and Procedures
Coordinates employee training plan
Manages recruiting program, travels to recruiting events
Identifies and plans for hiring needs and coordinates with Human Resources
Communicates with clients during turnover and hiring process
Completes new employee onboarding process, trains new staff on all accounting and customer service areas
Assumes an employee’s duties when they resign and trains their replacement on these duties
Performs tasks when needed and trains on General Ledger Accounting duties (including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Bank Reconciliations and cash flow management)
Evaluates new staff’s progression and communicates with management and the employee through structured meetings and processes
Supervises client billing for new staff’s workload during training period
Oversees scheduling, assignments and the daily workflow of staff
Conducts training for staff on techniques and skills to guide their clients
Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups and communication with management
Coordinates and assigns mandatory training across organization
Creates and administers post training evaluations, tests and assessments
Prepares and implements training budget
Coordinates and leads monthly staff meetings
Selects personal development books for staff to read as a team and review at monthly training
Arranges meeting facilitators and monitors staff engagement in weekly training sessions for new staff or staff that need development in certain areas
Coordinates staff charitable involvement, social team and events for staff
Meets quarterly with team members to connect (at a minimum)
Approves all staff communication before it goes out (emails, memos, etc)
Monitors and documents staff continuing education to ensure all staff are developing work and personal development skills
Attends a minimum of one Accounting and one personal growth training per year
Onboards new clients – assessing workflow needs and training staff on workflow
Offers learning opportunities to clients through in person, classroom, electronic and written methods
Trains client’s bookkeeping staff at the client’s place of business
Assists clients with Human Resources questions
