Learning Mentor – Hillingdon
We are currently seeking dedicated and experienced Learning Mentors to provide 1:1 and small-group support for primary and secondary-aged learners across the London Borough of Hillingdon.
This provision supports young people who are unable to access mainstream education, including those on EOTAS pathways, as well as pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. The role focuses on helping learners re-engage with education, build confidence, develop positive learning behaviours, and achieve their individual goals.
Demand for Learning Mentors is currently high, with referrals continuing to increase throughout the academic year and in preparation for September starts.
Please note: Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

* Building positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence, and personal development
* Working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety, and school avoidance
* Supporting learners to develop resilience, independence, and effective learning strategies
* Delivering sessions within homes, schools, community settings, or online
* Sessions typically take place during school hours, so daytime availability is essential
* Flexible opportunities available, with many referrals offering up to 5 days per week (approximately 3 hours per day)
Requirements
* Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, mentoring, youth work, support work, or pastoral capacity
* Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, EOTAS, or alternative provision is highly desirable
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
* Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
* Ability to travel locally within the Hillingdon area
* Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, psychology, counselling, social care, or a related field are advantageous
What We Offer
* Flexible working opportunities to suit your availability
* Regular referrals and ongoing work opportunities
* Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience
* The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives, wellbeing, and educational outcomes of young people
If you are passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential, we would love to hear from you.
