Leading Educators (LE) is a national nonprofit committed to ensuring that all students – no matter their background – have access to high-quality teachers and schools. POSITION
The Instructional Leadership Coach (ILC) ensures that our programming makes a measurable impact on teacher practice. This role will be a part of our broader Chicago regional team. The ILC will specifically support schools in North Chicago and serve as the main point of contact to school-based instructional leaders (school leaders and school instructional leadership teams), who are responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring school-based professional learning plans that drive toward equitable instruction in math and ELA. The ILC is our project’s expert in instructional coaching, leading learning for adults, and observing classrooms to assess both standards-aligned instruction and skillful implementation of Bridges Mathematics K-5 and American Reading Company (ARC) K-5. In addition to the coaching responsibilities, the ILC will design and facilitate ELA sessions for teachers in participating schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports to the Senior Director of Networks and has the following primary responsibilities:
Instructional Coaching
Provide coaching and support to school leaders and school instructional leadership teams (coaching will be done virtually and shift to in-person when safe to do so). Coaching includes monthly sessions to:
Deepen understandings of equitable instruction for math and ELA
Monitor progress and next steps for school-based professional learning plans, co-plan professional learning, and co-analyze teacher artifacts
Develop leadership skills needed to support College and Career Ready Standards-aligned professional learning
Reflect on school conditions necessary for strong teacher development
Co-observe math classroom alongside school leaders and school instructional
Build trusting relationships with school leaders, school instructional leadership teams, and other leaders in the district/schools
Design and Delivery of Sessions
Design high-quality professional learning experiences for all K-5 teachers, focused on equitable instruction in ELA and American Reading Company
Synthesize insights from schools and internal professional learning to drive program innovation
Leading Educators Leader
Act as an ambassador for Leading Educators nationally and in Chicago
Model and foster the Leading Educators values of disrupt racial inequity, build on strengths, prioritize people, continuously learn and ensures partnership work embodies Leading Educators’ mission and values
Commit to deepening one’s own knowledge and skills by regularly seeking and applying feedback and providing effective feedback to others.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE HIRED FOR THE ROLE:

Be an influencer. You hold extremely high expectations of yourself, your colleagues, and your partners. You communicate those expectations in a direct, caring, and motivating way.
Be a learner. You have a deep hunger for professional growth and continuous feedback.
LOCATION
When not traveling (monthly travel to North Chicago and up to 20% national travel for org retreats, programming or professional development required), the ILC-General will work from a home office that can be located anywhere in the US, but ideally in the North Chicago or Chicago area.

COMPENSATION
If hired for this position, the compensation range for this position is between $73,600 and $110,400 annually. Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience and in alignment with internal equity. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. In addition, Leading Educators offers a very generous benefits package including 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. We also offer a 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.
Additionally, Leading Educators offers generous time off with pay in order to support a sustainable high performance work culture. During the first three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year. Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment.
