Lead Systems Administrator Job at Wilmington, OH US Full Time

The Lead Systems Administrator’s role is to optimize servers, networks, and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, securing and fine-tuning various operating systems & Databases (Windows, iSeries, VMware, Linux, Oracle DB, DB2, SQL, Avaya networking, etc.) and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. Ensuring protection and recoverability of systems and data – meeting organization objectives.

• Responsibilities*
• Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements for all environments throughout the organization.
• Participate in the design and review of new systems and application deployments.
• Coordinate network administration functions, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet corporate objectives.
• Perform file system and database configuration and management.
• Support application development teams throughout project life cycles.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including end user desktop PCs and enterprise data servers.
• Ensure that workstations, browsers, and servers comply with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
• Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full data retrieval.
• Monitor and test system performance; provide statistics and reports.
• Define and implement strategies for integrating Windows and non-Windows operating environments.
• Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve security, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to keep compliance with cyber security requirements.
• Conduct research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
• Review and deploy new service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.
• Develop and maintain training materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff.
• Manage and/or provide guidance to members of the team.
• What you must have: *
• Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or an IT discipline, plus
• 10 or more years of experience in designing, installing, configuring, administering, securing and fine-tuning various operating systems & Databases (Windows, iSeries, VMware, Linux, Oracle DB, DB2, SQL, Avaya networking, etc.) and components
• Ensuring protection and recoverability of systems and data.
