Primary Role: Under the direction of HR Management, serves as a generalist for all Human Resources functions at the assigned location. Assures day-to-day HR tasks and processes are executed, partners with plant management staff, assures proactive culture, employee relations, recruitment and retention initiatives are occurring according to Latham’s core values and strategy while participating in HR projects and process improvement initiatives. Requires to work at the location 100% of the time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources Functions:
1. Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
2. Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes on ADP and E-Time
3. Maintains I-9s according to federal regulations and conducting I-9 audits
4. Leads recruiting for all positions at the location, (partnering with Talent Acquisition Leader on specialized searches as needed). This includes but it is not limited to internal job postings, external advertising, job fairs, open houses, non-profit recruiting, screening and tracking of applications, and:
a. Recruiting and Hiring for all DL and MOH positions
b. Reviewing pre-hire documentation to meet company’s requirements for hire
c. New Hire Orientations
d. Hiring Temporary employees
5. Partners with Corporate Payroll & Benefits Manager to include:
a. Informing employees about insurance enrollment deadlines
b. Overseeing weekly payroll approvals
c. Managing all payroll related issues including but not limited to pay shortages, overpayments, garnishments, support orders, requests for information, etc.
d. Processing all pay increases
6. Administering the Wage Matrix, partnering with Plant Manager to assure cross-training and appropriate matrix placement
7. Coordinating performance reviews and assisting managers with the process
8. Partnering with Plant Management to issue and track attendance and discipline; Administering the perfect attendance policy by tracking and documenting all employees with perfect attendance
9. Conducting investigations, documenting appropriately and recommending course of action
10. Handling all disciplinary issues, terminations and layoffs
11. Completing unemployment documentation and attending hearings as needed
12. Helping or organizing company activities and employee engagement/culture functions
13. Reviewing and enforcing Federal and State Law, along with company policies and procedures
14. Coaching and training supervisors and managers about policies and procedures and federal and state law
15. Administering and managing FMLA claims and other types of leaves (STD, LTD, administrative, personal, etc.)
16. Updating all legal postings along with any other plant postings and/or TV communication monitors
17. Backing-up the HR Supervisor in her/his absence
Office Administration Functions:
1. Ensure the following tasks are completed:
a. Ordering flowers and other appreciation items for employees
b. Partnering with plant management to roll out any engagement plans or events
Safety and Workers Comp Functions:
1. Developing and maintaining and enforcing safety rules and regulations
2. Conducting visual audits and recommending changes
3. Participating in the safety committee meetings when requested
4. Managing and ing all injuries to Strategic Comp
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field with a minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience at a manager level; Combined, relevant experience and HR-related training and education may be substituted for degree requirement
2. HR Certification and Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
3. Public company experience a plus
4. Previous manufacturing and safety programs highly preferred
5. Strong knowledge of employment law, regulations and concepts
6. With a high level of interpersonal skills, ability to handle sensitive information and confidential situations while maintaining the utmost in ethical standards
7. Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with diplomacy, accuracy and a service-orientation
8. Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work; able to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and an inquisitive approach to solving complex or unfamiliar problems
9. Strong work ethic; Approachable and responsive – able to develop string working relationships with employees and leaders
10. Passion for innovative HR process improvement and efficiency, enabling a deeper focus on organizational development as an HR business partner adept at talent management and retention
11. Excellent communication skills required, including being able to hold meetings and perform training in small and large groups – good to excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
12. Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; Survey Monkey, Zoom, Employee Survey software, Jobvite or similar applicant tracking system, HRIS and ADP Workforce Now
13. Must be available to work 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday at the designated location, with flexibility for nights/weekends as required; at least 40 hours per week.
14. Physical: Ability to (1) stay in a sitting position for most of the working day while looking at a computer monitor; (2) Walk through the plant at least once per day; (3) Open filing cabinets, bend or stand
