Logistics Assistant – FULLY REMOTE POSITION – ON or BC, Canada

We are an e-commerce fulfillment platform designed to support customers logistical requirements throughout North America.

Through a combination of company owned assets and partnering with best in class warehouse, middle-mile providers, and final mile couriers throughout North America, we can offer our customers an alternate delivery option to the USPS, Canada Post, Fedex, and UPS. Straightship provides the logistics to allow our clients to effortlessly access their customers directly and efficiently.

Purpose & Objectives:

ing to the Operations Manager, the Logistics Assistant is responsible for the coordination of a variety of services including air, ocean, warehousing, land freight, customs and more. This position is responsible for daily operations for shipments on all modes, including quotations & route planning, preparation of necessary documents; shipping arrangements and schedules, and providing exceptional service to clients. Additionally, the person must be comfortable and possess the ability to manage work within different time zones to suit international client needs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Respond to all client inquiries (e.g. schedules, rates, documents and shipping procedures).
• Accurately communicate and advise on cargo regulations and documentation requirements
• Preparation of documents, e.g. B/Ls, arrival notices, cargo control (A8A), insurance certs, L/Cs, CAED.
• Process pick-up/deliveries for cargo to client requirements
• Set up payables & receivables, issue invoices/billing in an accurate & timely manner
• Provide exceptional customer service to all clients and internal/external stakeholders
• Coordinate logistics and movement of freight on all modes
• Understand and analyze freight costs to ensure optimal performance and competitive costs
• Create freight quotes, process and track orders for shipments on all modes
• Interact with vendors and work collaboratively to ensure all service expectations are met
• Create bill of ladings, customs, and shipping documents
• Audit freight invoices and approve for payment in a timely manner
• Properly follow and lead company policies and all legal and regulatory requirements

Education and Experience:

• College / University Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Canadian logistics or trucking industry preferred
• Ability to understand and follow instructions, work independently and multitask
• Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent MS Office and ability to effectively use technology to perform required tasks.
• Ability to perform and maintain composure in stressful situations
• CIFFA, CSCB, FITT and/or CITT courses an asset
