Primary Objective
Provide a broad range of accounting services to ensure integrity of financial data and compliance with financial policies. This
includes financial analysis, reporting and advice, and the implementation of financial and accounting policies in line with
legislation and commercial operations.
Context Statement
LDC is a Government Business Division. LDC is responsible for delivering strategic land throughout the Northern Territory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist and support the Financial Controller, in reporting of budget and financial information in accordance with legislative
frameworks.
2. Undertake a range of balance sheet reconciliations to support the operations of LDC.
3. Assist with maintenance and integrity of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers for LDC.
4. Undertake ad hoc reports and projects to meet internal and external analysis and reporting.
5. Undertake regular review of financial management policies and practices and recommend changes.
6. Prepare, analyse and upload cash flows to facilitate the reporting of expenditure against budget.
7. Prepare and post end of month accrual journals.
8. Develop and maintain sound relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge and understanding of financial management, budget formulation, cost tracking and reporting, collation
and analysis of financial data.
2. Sound written and oral communication skills to operative effectively and with confidential and sensitive information.
3. Knowledge of and experience in, financial report generation techniques and methodology and reporting presentation suitable
for management.
4. Sound knowledge of accounting and tax principles, particularly as they apply to the sale and development of land.
5. Ability to establish and maintain good working networks across other government departments, stakeholders and clients
in relation to financial matters.
6. Proven ability to deliver concurrent outcomes within tight and conflicting deadlines and maintain high standards of
attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Proven ability to work independently, and as a member of a team, to achieve outcomes.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in finance/accounting or business related fields.
2. Experience working within a property development organisation.
3. Membership or working towards a membership of relevant professional organisation such as CPA or CA.
