The Educational Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the orientation program and on-going educational programs for all clinical staff in Health Center. The Educational Coordinator provides specific orientation for Health Center nursing staff.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

1. Plans the annual and monthly training program calendar in collaboration with other facility management team members for the Health Center.

2. Recruits instructors with expertise in the appropriate discipline to improve and develop skills of employees. Utilizes community resources for training programs.

3. Assists in the planning and coordination of training programs for Health Center to respond to identified problem areas, service quality or to teach new procedures or methods.

4. Maintains appropriate training records and program materials as required by federal and state regulations.

5. Provide specific orientation to Health Center nursing staff including completion of the clinical skills check-list.

6. Monitors outcome of employee training sessions with regard to skills taught and session evaluations.

7. Develops, maintains and upgrades the standards for policies and procedures for the Training and Development Department.

8. Participates in the budget for Training and Development. Submits monthly variance reports to the Business Office.

9. Serves on the Quality Assurance Committee, CQI Committee, Safety Committee and Infection Control Committee and other committees as assigned.

10. Coordinates the activities of students engaged in learning programs within the facility from various learning institutions.

11. Schedules Health Center employee annual physicals and Tuberculosis screening and maintains records of same.

12. Monitors/coordinates flu vaccination program for Health Center.

13. Conducts Infection Control studies and reports for quarterly QA.

14. Assumes a proactive role in resolving resident issues & concerns related to assigned areas of responsibility.

15. During emergencies or other natural disasters, may be required to report for duty as assigned by the Administrator or Executive Director for the duration of the disaster.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Current RN licensure in State of Florida required. Two years of training and development experience in long term care required.

2. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.

3. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic mathematical skills required.

4. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the facility; ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately; ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments efficiently; ability to work effectively with minimum supervision; ability to adapt teaching to the situation and diversity of learners.
