We currently have an open position for a Dispatcher
Our team is built on highly motivated and energetic individuals looking to succeed in every area of their daily task, reporting to the Director of Operations, the Dispatcher will be responsible for ensuring freight is picked up and delivered to the appropriate destination within specific timelines.
The Opportunity Role:
· Communicate with drivers to assign routes and loads based on their communication style
· Continually track the shipments to ensure all appointments are met within designated timelines.
· Communicate with internal departments such as planners, customer service, claims, compliance, maintenance
· Ensure systems such as satellite macros, ETA’s, PTA’s are followed correctly and company policies are enforced.
· Book driver delivery appointments as required
· Continually communicate with the drivers to ensure no delays.
· Ensure all dispatch equipment is checked on a daily basis.
· Ensure customers with special needs receive the correct service, including updating the information cards.
· Work with planners and maintenance to ensure there is sufficient equipment to handle the freight volumes.
· Ensure high value loads are properly secured.
· Weekly mileage targets per week is maintained
· All paperwork is turned in immediately upon delivery
· Ensure driver scorecards meet company standards
· Ensure operators know where and when to fuel
· Ensure empty miles and layovers are kept to a minimum
· Ensure all accessorial are paid and billed accordingly
· Ensure bobtails are kept to a minimum
· Manage M Capture usage
· Day to day management of drivers, discipline and document when required
Candidate Profile:
· Minimum 2 years working in operations within the transportation industry.
· Good knowledge of designated geographical areas, including highway regulations.
· Good keyboarding skills.
· Ability to operate dispatch computer system.
· Ability to work under pressure and handle changing demands.
· Sound judgement skills, including ability to prioritize workload and formulate decisions.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to build and maintain strong client relations.
· Strong interpersonal skills.
· Self-motivated and team oriented.
