The Lactalis Canada facility in Belleville specifically wraps and packages cheese products and our Distribution Centre is located in the industrial park area. These facilities have been in Belleville for a number of years and are better known as Black Diamond Cheese.

Position: Machine Operator / Labourer (Hourly, Unionized)

Shift: Midnights, Or Afternoons

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform tasks in accordance with established standard operating procedures, Safety, GMP, and HACCP controls. The operator rotates through different functions of machine operating.

• The operator is responsible for monitoring that the product meets all Lactalis quality standards and weights are controlled at all times.

• Complete log sheets and production records.

• Duties include set-up, monitoring and trouble-shooting.

• Employees will perform a variety of tasks as assigned by the supervisor, including but not limited to sanitation of the equipment and area.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school (OSSD or equivalent)
• Completion of post-secondary education an asset
• Able to safely operate mechanical devices
• Ability to enter data into a computer
• Quick learner with leadership qualities, superior communication and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to quickly identify and take action in a safe manner
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to trouble shoot, perform minor maintenance, and monitor product or material attributes.
• Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs

• Previous experience in manufacturing, particularly in the food industry, is an asset

• Flexible availability for all shifts
