As Manager, Weapon Systems Software you will:
An active section manager within the Software Engineering department at L3Harris MAS.
The Manager, Weapon Systems Software is overall responsible for the maintenance of the cybersecurity posture and for the lifecycle sustainment of multiple software subsystems found in military aircraft platforms, in their associated ground systems equipment, and in their associated supply chains (software engineering environments and system integration laboratories, etc).
The Manager, Weapon Systems Software leads several geographically dispersed teams of highly qualified professional personnel (engineers and technicians) working on the engineering and the in-service support of multiple aircraft fleets.
Essential Functions:
The Manager, Weapon Systems Software is overall responsible for delivering all committed work related to weapon system software engineering and system security engineering to all aircraft platform fleets, in-service support programs, and acquisition programs led and supported by L3Harris MAS.
The position involves communication within and outside of the Software Engineering department to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. The individual will develop and champion new concepts or technologies, manage the implementation of strategies and recommend operational plans that directly affect the short-to mid-term department results.
The position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to lead well in a dynamic engineering environment. This position has visibility with company executive leadership and customer counterparts.
The Manager, Weapon Systems Software is responsible to recommend and implement new products, practices, processes, policies, standards or operating plans within the scope of the section’s responsibilities.
The position provides the opportunity to pioneer new weapon system software engineering and system security engineering approaches, techniques and tools on major programs. The Manager, Weapon System Software will influence programs’ technical development and help ensure the technical integrity and quality of the work performed.
Critical tasks include:
staffing, staff development, training, and mentorship;
strategic planning including annual operating plans and section goals settings;
technical effectiveness, quality, and improvement of section processes, procedures, and practices;
deliverables progress and completion monitoring;
bids and proposals support;
research and development support; and
procurement.
