L.L.Bean is currently searching for an IT Manager to join the Information Services team located in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose: Management responsibilities of day-to-day operations of a set of information systems including management of staff supporting those systems. Projects will have a moderate impact (may be limited to single functional area).

Responsibilities

• Project Management and Scrum Master Activities to support agile team
• Understands the L.L.Bean businesses, including general knowledge of relevant business processes and all IS teams that are engaged with; understands the IS process to drive the work
• Contributes to the development of team level budget targets & understands how the budget is managed
• Prepares, delivers and leads technical presentations that bring about effective decision-making
• People Management responsibilities including but not limited to of performance management, setting team & individual goals, coaching & feedback, performance reviews, etc

Manages the delivery of a set of applications, infrastructure components or services and is responsible for the full life-cycle management and performance of build and production

• Directs technical analysis, prepares & evaluates estimates for reasonability, and effectively manages and directs (software and hardware) projects that fall within the Reference Architecture

Plans and sets goals at micro level

• Schedules small-scale projects and/or requests
• Defines, prioritizes & re-prioritizes; judges the relative priority of each effort and operating with an appropriate sense of urgency
• Evaluates options & drives to decisions based on facts, data & logic presented
• Recognizes early warning signs and opportunities and takes action
• Ensures decisions are aligned with and support departmental priorities

Leads and provides overall direction to a technical and analytical team

• Makes decisions on hiring, termination, assignment, promotion, appraisals, etc
• Assesses resources and manages team workload to achieve business objectives
• Sets goals and objectives; measures and reports progress against them
• Advances development, delivery and support best practices; creates a work environment for teams to grow and thrive
• Effectively leads through change – implementation and assessment

Team facilitation

• Schedule and facilitate team Scrum events (DSU, planning, grooming, review and retro)
• Coach the team to achieve the purpose of each ceremony so that they can successfully and reliably deliver value to stakeholders
• Work closely with PO and other stakeholders to ensure that the backlog is appropriately detailed and ordered so that the team can focus their efforts accordingly

Project Detail and Schedules

• Develops project work breakdown structures
• Develops and manages a project or team schedule/timeline using approved Project Management tools (Clarity, JIRA, PPT, excel)
• Develops, monitors, and manages the project staffing plan and resource allocations approved by resource managers
• Determines Resource Assignments with task estimates (ETC’s)

Involved in negotiations with vendors; keeps up to date with vendor releases

• Manages vendor relationships for a set of vendors as defined by the Strategic Vendor Management model
• Establishes, negotiates and tracks adherence to Service Level Agreements for vendor and in-house systems

Skills & Qualifications

• 3-9 years IT experience; 0-2 years managerial or supervisor-level experience
• BA/BS or equivalent required; IT focus preferable
• Broad IT leadership experience of technology principles and various computing systems, applications, and environments
• IT leadership experience and domain understanding of technology principles and various computing systems, applications, and environments
• Experience with Agile methods preferred, including working directly with Product Owners to understand and prioritize requests
• Role model in the department
• Ability to build collaborative relationships in order to support win-win outcomes
• Demonstrates high discretion and accountability
• Honed technical, communication & writing skills
• Skilled facilitator of cross functional communications
• Ability to solicit input and drive decisions
