KPMG’s Dynamic Risk Assessment (DRA) is an evolution in risk assessment that applies network theory, sophisticated algorithms, mathematics and advanced data and analytics together in a KPMG proprietary methodology to identify, connect and visualise risk in four-dimensions.

This unparalleled view looks beyond conventional depictions of risk, typically based solely on likelihood and severity, by taking into consideration risk interconnectedness and the velocity with which risks can impact business operations.

DRA is used in boardrooms globally to influence understanding and treatment of risk.

The DRA Centre-of-Excellence provides research-and-development expertise and has PhD-qualified staff in computer science, physics, economics and finance. The DRA team supports and develops the DRA product line including the research, development and innovation for example DRA in the metaverse and financial modelling for climate change.

Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and results oriented person to progress their career with KPMG, with the opportunity to work on an interesting project globally using the latest technologies.

You will be expected to lead innovation for the product, develop new features and work with a small development team to bring the DRA solution/s to market.

A key DRA objective for the current year is to foster creativity and innovation for transforming the DRA output to online presence. With the aim to move DRA into Augmented Reality (AR), it is an opportunity for a “Senior Software Developer” to contribute to developing leading edge technology transformation using digital visual elements that will bring the DRA deliverable into AR globally.

As a Senior Software Developer

• You will supplement the CoE by having a research, development and innovation mindset. Your primary role will be development and maintenance of the DRA product-line but you are expected to contribute more broadly
• You will be a talented and passionate Senior Software Developer – Full Stack engineer with at least 12+ years of commercial development experience
• The current system uses a wide range of technologies. You will have solid knowledge and experience with several of these technologies but show preparedness and ability to learn others – Java, JEE, Tomcat, Typescript, Angular, HTML5/CSS, SQL, Julia, Azure Cloud (WebApps, Storage, AAD), Azure Devops (entire suite), Jasmine, Protractor, Karma, Microsoft Graph, rxjs, SVG, Selenium, RESTful services via Jersey, JUNIT, etc) {Most of the DRA team have had some gaps in their skillsets but were able to fill them rapidly. You will be expected to do the same.}
• Strong proficiency in software engineering is highly desirable including skills in object-oriented programming, design patterns etc. The DRA product-line has been strongly engineered and standards need to be maintained. You should have a quality-first mindset
• You will be accountable for the quality of the product line. You will need to understand user requirements (Jira), document them (Confluence), and write sufficient tests to confirm that they have been correctly implemented. The board-level users of DRA are not tolerant of failure so the DRA system needs to have 100% functionality and reliability
• Hands on knowledge in Selenium testing with Java and Javascript, and experience in test-driven development
• Build highly scalable applications in cloud environments (Azure experience is a positive)
• You will be experienced and have a deep understanding of DevOps and strong experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• You will be comfortable working autonomously at home with minimal supervision
• As a member of the DRA CoE you will be required to attend and participate in regular online DRA team meetings so as to maintain cohesion and the strong sense of purpose that is consistent with KPMGs values

Qualifications

A degree in computer science or related discipline is a must, and a thesis based post-graduate degree (PhD) in a quantitative discipline (Maths, Engineering, Physics, etc…) is advantageous.

Most of the DRA staff members have PhDs and are looking for like-minded individuals to help grow the DRA brand across the globe.
