The Software Support Specialist plays a key role in the Immigration IT team that is responsible for implementing and maintaining internal desktop and web applications as well as designing application solutions to support business strategies. The successful candidate will be a quick learner with a positive attitude that is looking to join a fast-paced and exciting environment.
What you will do:
Establish an understanding of our internal desktop and web applications
Monitor service requests and provide first level support to internal/external users.
Prioritize multiple requests and respond in a timely manner
Communicate effectively with internal and external users to understand the requests and offer solutions and/or escalate to development team
Create new accounts for new users and maintain current accounts
Change settings in legacy/new applications
Update data in SQL Server database for ongoing changes
Develop code in .net framework in order to make changes in current code or add new functionalities
Perform functional and performance testing for current and new code.
Work with development team to detect/fix bugs
Work closely with developers to ensure end users receive a successful and effortless data migration experience
What you bring to this role:
Bachelor’s or College degree in Computer Science is required
3 years of experience with SQL relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL is preferred) and capable of writing SQL statements and procedures
3 years of experience in .net framework (C#, asp.net)
Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery
Ability to work independently and with other team members
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external users
Excellent analytical/problem solving skills with a strong attention to detail, and ability to synthesize large quantities of data/information
