Role Specifics

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting team, the role will be responsible for a wide range of financial accounting activities in accordance with the financial reporting standards, statutory requirements and accounting policy and processes. The Manager – Financial Accounting ensures compliance with external reporting, manages month end & year end process, prepares/reviews annual statutory reports and assists with the annual budget and forecast process.

Key Accountabilities

1. External audit, annual statutory accounts & financial year end reporting (35%)

• All timelines met with “no surprises”

• Liaise with external auditors and ensure the reporting entities have their lodgement requirements completed

• Prepare audit committee papers for discussion at meetings

• Undertake technical research where required for any change in accounting standards

• Prepare/review if allocated annual statutory accounts including Consolidation

2. Period end, General ledger reconciliations & external reporting (35%)

• Oversee period end process, prepare and process journals as required

• Prepare/review allocated general ledger account reconciliations

• Review monthly Balance Sheet and document meaningful explanations for significant fluctuations

• Oversee the preparation of ABS surveys, political donation disclosures and covenant reporting

3. Contribution to Finance (20%)

• Review & update current accounting policies. Identify and create additional accounting policies where required

• Responsible for chart of accounts control

• Support FBPs with the budgeting and forecasting process as required

• Identify opportunities for process improvement, contribute to projects and actively contribute & champion Finance initiatives

4. People Management (10%)

• Manage performance and provide direction to 1 direct report

• CA/CPA qualified

• 5-7yrs Financial accounting experience

• Previous experience in external audit is highly regarded
