• BSL Sign Language Assistant
• BSL Level 2 qualified (Level 3 is desirable)
• Full-time, long-term role starting September until July 24
• Ideal experience for an aspiring SALT or EP
• Secondary School located in Barnet, North London
• Earn up to £120 per day
• Working with a separate Deaf provision attached to mainstream secondary school
• Interviewing immediately

The right candidate for this role will: Understanding of BSL linguistics. Ability to moderate language using (sign), speech and the written form to meet a range of different communication styles and needs A, I, T. Have experience of teaching pupils in an area relevant to the programme area. Relevant and recent experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs in an educational context to reduce barriers to inclusion, facilitate learning and encourage independence. Understand the impact of deafness on language and communication, and how these impacts on the development of skills in BSL

The post is to support the learning of children with additional language and literacy needs. This post is contracted for 1 year with option to extend, linked to student’s Statement / Education Health Care Plan. This is a school that encourages students with mixed learning difficulties to mix with mainstream students. This gives all the students that attend a good opportunity to communicate with people from different backgrounds and to create friendships with people that may not have been able to mix with during school.
