The successful applicant for this role will:

Ensure automation of practice across VM infrastructure, networking, middleware and applications – creating measured value or benefit in each layer.

Evaluate industry cutting edge tools and techniques for DevOps/TechOps making sure we adopt those that will make us better.

Enhance and extend the DevOps relationships with multiple teams across company technology, sharing knowledge and best practice.

Help Define team strategy, lead planning and status updates and be responsible for ensuring efficiency targets and financial budgets are met continually.

Add value right across the delivery lifecycle, regardless of methodologies adopted, adding valuable support and direction.

Key Responsibilities

· DevOps technical design and delivery for key programmes and platform deliverables.

· Technical Design Authority for assigned programmes driving best practice while aligning to platform standards

· Drive best technology and software development practices with passion and enthusiasm continually evolving our capabilities while leading and mentoring other team members.

· Provide effective insights across all our platforms at scale, with zero lag and high availability.

· Own DevOps planning, estimates & tasks

· Complete technical assessments, writeups and proposals – lead TPOC activities.

· Drive improvement and innovation proactively identifying opportunities and delivering solutions.

· Establish and execute platform compliance and support processes in line with our core automation principles

· Provide production support and issue resolution

· Provide dynamic development, stage and production environment while supporting our development teams to ensure they have the best facilities

· Own and manage relationships with multiple suppliers and/or internal teams

· Actively develop and promote the role of DevOps in the company and externally.

· Investigate new technologies to drive the platform forward

· Continually optimise the production platform (applications and infrastructure).

Requirements/Skills

Worked in enterprise scale operations environments using Scrum and Agile at a Senior or Lead Level.

Excellent Linux systems administration

Experience of a wide variety of open source technologies and tools

Puppet, Ansible, Git, Apache, Tomcat, Java, Jenkins, Spring, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloudfoundry

Good understanding of HTTP, certificates etc.

Experience of monitoring and log manipulation solutions

AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana, Influx, Kafka

Experience of Cloud and on premise hosting solutions

Experience of delivering software using continuous delivery and deployment approaches

Ability to code and script in multiple languages (Node.js, Elixir, Ruby, Java, Perl, Go, Groovy)

Strong grasp of automation tools

Understanding of networking including systems (F5, Cisco GSS/ACE)

A strong focus on business outcomes and helping others succeed.

Experience within an IT Operations role
