Kohl’s Hiring for TECHNICAL DESIGNER at Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin Full Time

Executes product technical specifications for multiple or complex programs for Kohl’s Proprietary Brands.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

EXECUTES PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND DRIVE CONSISTENT STANDARDS FOR COMPLEX CATEGORY AND/OR MULTIPLE BRANDS

• Completes accurate technical specifications that adhere to Kohl’s testing, construction, tolerance and safety specifications
• Partner with Product Integrity to understand performance testing protocols and develop product to meet those requirements.
• Ensures dimension consistency by upholding Brand ID and Minimum Construction Standards
• Performs benchmarking, maintains awareness of market trends, competitively shops and makes recommendations
• Partners with Lead Tech Designer to guide new hires on Kohl’s processes and procedures
• Demonstrate accountability for meeting deadlines & calendar timing
• Monitor vendor scorecard and performance, facilitate improvements to sample approval timing, as needed

EXECUTES SAMPLE REVIEWS FOCUSING ON CONSTRUCTION AND FUNCTIONALITY

• Evaluates samples to ensure they meet construction,tolerances and safety standards and recommend solutions to improve product where possible
• Effectively conduct sample evaluations while delivering accurate and timely sample approvals
• Provides effective corrections, sketches, photos and sample comments that clearly communicates the required modifications for vendors
• Conducts quality and value analysis of samples to suggest product improvements that deliver customer expectations
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and performance standards across categories

CONDUCTS VENDOR PARTNER COMMUNICATIONS

• Articulate technical specifications to vendor, Li & Fung via PLM
• Partners with Certified Technical Designers and vendors to resolve issues
• Engage with Certified Technical Designers at vendor/factory to guide better results on product development process
• Assist with internal and vendor onboarding and Certified Technical Designer training program”

DRIVES CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

• Develop innovative solutions to recommend efficiencies in process or product related solutions to promote best outcome for Kohl’s workplace and/or customer
• Remain current in industry-leading manufacturing practices and equipment
• Drive creation/evolution of product standards as needed
• Partner with Product Integrity team to facilitate upstreaming of fabric quality evaluation

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

• Minimum of five years experience in technical design, construction, pattern making or design
• Experience leading fit sessions
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Pattern making, Apparel Manufacturing or Industrial Design

PREFERRED

• Experience using PLM and Adobe-Illustrator or similar on-line specification package and sketching programs
