Kohl’s Hiring for ASSISTANT MANAGER, PROMOTIONAL STRATEGY – REMOTE at Remote, Wisconsin Full Time

Lead the development of strategic marketing markdown investment plans as part of Kohl’s overall promotional strategy and calendar planning. Communicate the impact of events and offers to cross-functional leaders and provide recommendations to influence and inform decisions.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

IDENTIFY INSIGHTS AND OPTIMIZATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR MARKETING MARKDOWN INVESTMENTS

• Analyze complex historical spend levels and usage patterns by marketing offer and discount for the broader organization
• Partner with Analytics and Finance to evaluate short-term and long-term sales lift and customer migration impacts of different marketing discounts. Provide solution recommendations to leadership
• Partner with cross-functional partners to evaluate impact of markdown investment in offer (MMD) vs in price (PLU).  Provide recommendations to leadership to drive strongest productivity
• Research market to identify trends and new opportunities

DEVELOP RECOMMENDATIONS AND PROMOTIONAL PLANS THAT FOCUS MARKETING MARKDOWNS ON THE HIGHEST RETURN, LEVERAGING ANALYTICS AND ALIGNED TO BUSINESS TARGETS

• Translate insights and business data into plans and information that improves cross-functional understanding and alignment
• Drive the creation of annual plans that outline a set of recommended actions and implications for the broader team
• Generate a multi-year road map for innovation and offer testing for the broader promotional strategy
• Oversee the development of test briefs and communicate strategic objectives and/or hypothesis to internal teams
• Communicate key test insights and the recommended go-forward actions to key cross-functional partners

DESIGN AND LEAD A CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PLANNING PROCESS

• Lead the development, documentation and maintenance of planning schedules that align calendar reviews, merchant planning and financial planning milestones 
• Own and develop relationships with cross-functional leaders, working with them to optimize and enhance the process
• Hold regular stakeholder meetings to keep all partners updated and informed.
• Manage the maintenance and definition of reporting tools
• Drive new projects as they arise
• Act as a mentor to the broader team and serve as a point of escalation as roadblocks arise

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4-6 years prior marketing, analytics or related experience
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
• Extensive experience analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and recommendations
• Detail-oriented in context of a fast-paced environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

PREFERRED

• Prior retail or merchandising experience
• Creative approach in solving business challenges
• Previous experience serving as a project lead on a promotional strategy or related team
