Staff Engineer, Manufacturing & Maintenance Manager

Opportunity
Responsible for leading the Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering functions within the Robern organization to support production with day-to-day operation.
This includes oversight of the maintenance staff and machine shop. The incumbent will be responsible for driving continuous improvement projects for cost reductions, enhancing quality, efficiency, and productivity.
The incumbent would be responsible for planning and execution of plant maintenance programs so the plant will meet its production objectives.
They will also provide input and support to cross-functional projects as it relates to the Robern Strategic Plan. The Staff Engineer Manufacturing and Maintenance Manager is expected to support or lead the activities of several projects involving the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of the manufacturing projects.
This multifaceted position requires technical innovation, as well as a moderate level of technical skill and leadership in the areas of project management, design, analysis, and development.
The scope of the role includes leadership of the plant’s Maintenance Technician, Tool and Die Machinist, and Engineering Co-Op.
The incumbent will develop and implement strategies for manufacturing engineering and maintenance that supports the Plant and Business’s strategic Plan.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsible for oversight of the Plant’s Maintenance Function as it relates to production equipment and other facility maintenance activity as performed by the Maintenance technician.
Responsible for oversight of the machine shop through supervision of the Tool & Diemaker position, helping to support both production and New Product Development.
Develops and implements Preventative Maintenance plans for current and new equipment as well as tracks operational performance and recommends / implements changes to process and equipment for improvement, driving and leading those projects.
Provides technical training and support to manufacturing teams and responsible for SOP and Standard work creation for any new equipment, process changes, and support for any deviations or rework required.
Supports the operation through troubleshooting and problem solving of issues on the Plant floor including analysis of components or products for compliance to drawings and any testing needed for support of changes.
Provides technical support and direction to the installation of new equipment and systems, including the action and control of costs associated with these projects.
Supports obtaining of cost analysis information for proposed modifications to existing products, materials or processes.
Designs and develops new or improved processes to improve safety, ergonomics and effectiveness of manufacturing processes.
Ensure adherence to all safety policies and will support safety initiatives as needed.
Champions continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts to constantly improve the process and lower costs by researching, investigating, developing, and implementing new or improved manufacturing technology, and supports others in doing so as well.
May provide support or input to the New Product Introduction Process through collaboration with other Operations personnel as needed.
Skills / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited engineering program.
Seven plus years Engineering or Maintenance related experience within a production assembly environment.Experience with automated equipment and integration preferred.
Experience in : Glass or metal fabrication product & process capabilities, evaluating metal stamping-tooling & die process improvement, standards and specifications experience preferred;
working with aluminum extrusion is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus.
Six Sigma certification / Lean Manufacturing training preferred.
Past experience with project improvement, machine and process efficiencies highly desirable
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Past experience in aluminum extrusion and glass-based designs, engineered solutions, vendor sourcing and manufacturing integration are preferred.

The salary range for this position is $96,300 – $122,300. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
