Engineering Manager, Technical Solutions, Kohler Energy

Opportunity

Provide Leadership and develop functional excellence for the Technical Solutions team that is responsible for preparing quotes for non-standard (ES) line items and providing technical design and application assistance to the Kohler Power Systems field sales team and distribution network.

This is a hybrid role with expectations of being onsite 2-3 days a week.

Specific Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and technical leadership in the day-to-day activities for the Technical Solutions team.
• Establish a strong and diverse team culture while continually developing team members in both technical and soft selling skills.
• Establish team metrics and performance targets to achieve overall business goals.
• Identify market trends and provide feedback to Marketing team
• Identify, implement, and document procedural and process changes that will improve team efficiency, response time, consistency in processes and methods, and customer service.
• Establish collaborative relationships with distribution partners, and internal peer-level stakeholders including Field Sales, Account Management, Product Marketing, Channel Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to achieve business goals.
• Proficient understanding of spec interpretation, generator sizing, and driving continuous improvement by consistently leading technical project work.

Responsible for training of team in all areas of expertise required.

• Maintain daily workflow tools, assuring smart number quotation accuracy for all engineered special options, and maintaining centralized documentation.
• Assist with the development of material for application and technical training for the Kohler Power Systems field sales team and distribution network.

Create standard presentations and provide training as needed.

Develop and maintain a strong talent organization by selecting, appointing and developing people who embody the skills and drive that contribute to our global success.

Cultivate the careers of the team and develop a culture of accountability. Delegate to each subordinate the responsibility and authority for performance of the assigned function, evaluate their effectiveness, and counsel and guide them toward improved performance and accountabilities for total talent management.

Skills / Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (BSEE or BSME from an ABET accredited institution). 8+ years of on-site power application experience
• Strong personal characteristics are mandatory in the areas of leadership, organization, technical aptitude, curious and pragmatic mind-set, communication, judgment, attitude, initiative, and follow-up.
• 5+ years of experience in technical quoting, reading prints and working with product lines of technical complexity
• This position requires travel up to 20%.

The salary range for this position is $119,450 – $152,650. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
