Engineering Technician IV

Opportunity

The successful candidate will not only improve our reliability program for existing HVAC equipment but will also provide input for new equipment across the campus.

Mentoring maintenance personnel on precision maintenance practices will be a key component of the position. Strong leadership skills and the ability to follow in dynamic situations are required to problem solve and determine corrective actions in real time.

Specific Responsibilities

Maintenance Strategies

• Partner with various maintenance and operations groups to create maintenance strategies for equipment using FMEA’s, OEM recommendations, and industry best practices.
• Create bills of materials for equipment using best practices to determine stock quantities.
• Determine criticality of equipment and provide input on CMMS equipment structure.

Predictive Technologies

• Drive the Kohler Co. maintenance organization to world-class status by developing and implementing innovative maintenance and reliability practices.
• Interpret vibration data and oil analysis s to correct equipment issues before failures occur.
• Utilize various predictive tools and technologies to improve reliability of assets.
• Lead smart factory initiatives by implementing and improving various continuous monitoring systems.

HVAC and Utility Systems

• As the subject matter expert for HVAC and utility equipment, mentor junior craft personnel in various areas of precision maintenance to reduce induced failures and improve overall reliability of equipment.
• Analyze the effectiveness of precision maintenance techniques and work with maintenance teams to improve various precision maintenance programs, including ultrasonic lubrication, balancing of rotating equipment, aligning of drive components, vibration analysis, and oil analysis.
• Oversee contractors and manage the strategic maintenance of HVAC and utility systems.

Design for Reliability and Continuous Improvement

• Develop standards and procedures for maintenance processes.
• Collaborate with project engineers on the selection and implementation of new HVAC equipment.
• Develop a condition assessment ranking system that will drive the capital plan for the replacement of key HVAC and utility systems.

Skills / Requirements

Journeyman Millwright, Electro-Mechanic degree, certified HVAC technician, or related Associate of Science degree required.

Six or more years of relevant work experience desired, or a Bachelor of Science degree in a related engineering field will be considered.

Degree and experience requirements may be altered for a highly qualified candidate at the sole discretion of the hiring manager.

• Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) certificate or Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) certificate preferred and will be required within 2 years of employment.
• Experience with predictive technologies is preferred.
• CMMS experience desired, SAP knowledge is a plus.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office products is required.
• This position will require occasional travel time.

The hourly range for this position is $28.75 – $35.95. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
