KnowCap Atlanta Hiring for UX/UI Designer – Part time for early stage startups at Remote Full Time

What KnowCap does

KnowCap is a startup community that connects subject matter experts (like you!) with early stage projects and undiscovered entrepreneurs. Experts collaborate with other community experts, sharing workload as their schedules allow, to get these early stage companies off the ground. Experts work on the full range of tasks it takes to get a company running, such as designing a logo, developing a target customer persona, or mapping the customer journey. 400 experts have joined KnowCap’s community so far to support these projects.

The experts that join our community come from all types of geographical, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Our mission supports both experts and founders that are traditionally overlooked by venture capital, as we believe killer ideas can come from anyone or anywhere. Just look at success like Calendly (Georgia), Qualtrics (Utah), and Zapier (Missouri)!

How KnowCap works

Our flexible work allows experts to contribute based on their schedule. Choose which project you contribute to. Only pick up tasks when you want to.

Browse the open projects on our network and find the ones that interest you.

Search thru the upcoming tasks needed to be completed for that project and claim a task in your area of expertise.

Complete and turn in your task to the network.

Earn tokens that can be held or exchanged for perks and rewards.

Add the experience to your resume to help in your job search or use our community to make additional connections.

For experts that are looking for a path to take the reins of an early stage startup, experts who are established in the network can apply to be part of the founding team of one of the projects. They’ll manage the project with the rest of the founding team, including applying to accelerators and leading the company through any programs it’s accepted to.

Just like we know good founders can come from anywhere, we know smart experts come from all walks of life. Some of our contributors have a full time job or are a full time parent, but want the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work, without stepping away from their current commitments. Others have been recently laid off and use KnowCap to up their skills and add to their resume while they search for a full time role. Because work is split up by tasks, the work can be shared across all types of people and schedules.

About the UX/UI Designer Contributor

Our UX/UI Designers are the experts that bring projects and the customer experience to life. Most projects are very early stage startups, so you’d have the opportunity to develop the initial user flow and wireframes for the very first version of their product. Projects that are further along will ask you to develop a clickable prototype that can be used in conversations with investors or new customers to powerfully showcase the impact of the product. For the handful of projects that already have their initial product developed, you’ll have the chance to help these projects improve their customer experience. You’ll be able to evaluate existing screens through a heuristic analysis and provide direction on how to improve their visitor’s journey.

But remember, because you choose which tasks you pick up, you get to decide which pieces of the project you work on. Additionally, if there are other areas of expertise that you think you have the skills to contribute, you can pick up tasks for that area of the project as well.

How do the tokens work

We use tokens to award a stake in our digital ecosystem. You always have visibility to how many tokens you own vs available, so there are no secrets. This means you always know how much you’ve earned.

You can hold on to these tokens in your digital wallet. As our projects succeed and the value of our network grows, so will the value of your tokens. Or, if short term benefits make more sense for you, you can trade in your tokens as you earn them for rewards.

Because our projects are currently early stage, and our network is still young, tokens are the only type of compensation we offer at this time. We believe tokens are the best method to keep rewards transparent and to provide compensation to our community.

About joining our community

Experts that want to earn tokens and work on projects will follow the below steps for our brief application process. Reach out and we’ll help get you started. Or if you prefer to get started in our community, you can check it out here.

Step 1: You’ll log into our application platform, The Starting Block.

Why: This allows us to track your application through our process.

Step 2: Click “Join Base” in The Starting Block on the homepage.

Why: Joining the base gives you access to interact with the starting block and claim an application task.

Step 3: Pick and claim an application task.

Why: The application tasks are similar assignments as the tasks that are available to claim in the digital ecosystem. This allows you to self select your skill set and pick a task that interests you.

Step 4: Follow the task directions, complete the assignment, and submit for review

Why: The application tasks are shorter, but function the same way as tasks in our digital ecosystem, so you’ll get a clear understanding of how our projects function before joining.

Step 5: Our team will review your application and respond in 1-3 days

Why: This gives our team the chance to evaluate you on your ability only, while keeping the process flexible for you.

Step 6: Accepted! Setup your wallet and sign the contract to enter the digital ecosystem

Why: The wallet allows you to get paid securely in tokens. The contract protects our founders’ work.
