Kmart Hiring for Financial Accountant – Job at Melbourne Full Time

The Role

Responsible for Financial Accounting requirements for all Kmart Division legal entities, supporting both internal and external stakeholders, Support the Senior Financial Accountant in managing the accounting obligations for the Kmart group of companies.

Key Responsibilities

Creation and review of periodic financial statements & reports

• Assist with the preparation of monthly, half yearly and yearly financial results, in accordance with internal timetable
• Reporting to Wesfarmers in accordance with timetable

Financial compliance & reconciliation

• Financial reconciliations prepared in timely manner.
• Ensure all accounting policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements are adhered to.
• Ensure all reports and data are prepared and delivered as agreed with external audit
• Preparation of survey / statistics information

Key provisions and areas of financial focus

• Ensure key provisions are prepared, reviewed, and monitored.
• Assist with analysis of monthly results
• Preparation of month end journals and reports
• Ensure an understanding of key balance sheet movements
• Identify risks & opportunities for the business in timely manner to enable mitigation &/or action

About You

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in financial accounting team of large scale corporate business with a good understanding of accounting principles
• Experience in the use of Financial Systems (i.e. SAP), including accounting and general ledger experience, including completing ledger reconciliations
• Ability to drive improvements and meet tight deadlines
• A great customer service focus and ability to work in a team
• Self-motivated and proactive
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Business writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Analytical and problem solver
• Advanced MS Excel

Technical Skills required:

• Tertiary qualifications in commerce or business, with accounting/finance majors.
• ICAA/CPA qualified (or near completion)
