King Cole Kitchens is a division of King Cole Ducks LTD, the only fully vertically integrated farm of its kind in North America. Our duck products are sold fresh and local to our community, and are featured in retail food stores, butcher shops, and delis across North America. We also serve restaurants, resorts, hotels, and cruise lines around the world. Each year King Cole produces approximately 2.5 million ducks to create our delicious lines of Ready-to-Cook and Fully Cooked duck products.

King Cole Kitchens is a federally inspected food processing facility that produces ready to eat products. Our primary business is producing fully cooked, ready to eat duck products for King Cole Ducks but we also operate as a co-packer for other meat producers/suppliers.

Job Summary

The primary functions of the Plant Supervisor are to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations and all plant employees in their designated areas. In addition, the Production Supervisor is to continuously monitor to ensure all personal safety, food safety and food quality measures are in place and effective.

Start Time: 6:15 AM

End Time: 3:30 PM (Some overtime may be required)

Shift: Days (Monday – Friday)

Report to: General Manager

Key Responsibilities

Lead production employees to achieve performance standards with regards to Good Manufacturing Practices, safety, and quality

Develop the team by training operators – leading by example, setting expectations, providing feedback and recognizing and rewarding good performance

Responsible for meeting and reporting on production targets

Providing effective leadership and direction to all team members (coaching, performance reviews, training, addressing HR-related issues and concerns)

Communicate with and assist other departments as needed

Completing the weekly and daily production schedule

Plan and schedule labour based on production requirements

Create and process production records and reports

Schedule, plan, and approve vacation for employees

Oversee permanent and temporary employee hours through ADP

Evaluate the condition of production equipment to ensure optimal performance

Utilize problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies, process control, and continuous improvement tools to drive performance

Communication and on-going reinforcement of production performance requirements (i.e., health and safety; food safety and quality, customer service, etc.)

Ensure Quality Compliance with all HACCP, GMP, and SQF policies are practiced and followed through regular follow-ups and leading by example

Assistance with food safety investigation

CCP and other documentation monitoring and verification

Assist with developing SOPs and enforce them

Assist with audits and mock recalls

Oversee shipping and receiving responsibilities

Oversee and conduct inventory cycle counts

Other duties as assigned

Requirements

3 years experience in a supervisor/leadership role, preferably in the food manufacturing industry

Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with strong organizational skills

Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP an asset

Ability to lead and motivate

Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential

Computer literacy (MS Office).
