Kent Police and Essex Police Hiring for Assistant Accountant Job at Remote Full Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Assistant Accountant to join the Kent Police’s high performing Finance team. This is a six-month fixed term contract position working 37 hours a week, including homeworking but with the requirement to attend training and meetings in Kent Police offices at Maidstone and Northfleet.

The role of this post will be to assist in providing financial support and advice on the Force’s final accounts and the completion of statistical returns to ensure that the Council meets its statutory financial obligations.

The ideal candidate will be currently studying for a CCAB accountancy qualification or will have a minimum of two years appropriate experience for this post, including the use of computerised financial systems and be educated to a minimum of 3 GCSE’s grade A-C or equivalent. The successful candidate will have strong numeracy, accuracy and general computer skills, with the ability to use spreadsheets to their full effectiveness. Experience of working in the public sector e.g., local authorities and Police and Fire Forces would also be an advantage.

To succeed in the role, the successful candidate will need the ability to act on their own initiative and work under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to attend meetings at North Kent Police Station and Sutton Road Maidstone , as agreed with the line manager. Currently the designated Team Zone for this role is located at Northfleet Police HQ. Please note that any excess travel costs from the existing Team Zone to any future Team Zone will not be paid and applicants are advised to take potential travel mileage increases into consideration when deciding to apply.
