Required Qualifications:
1. Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate appropriate to elementary level
2. Endorsement in Reading
3. Satisfactory evaluations
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with Journeys reading curriculum.
2. Experience with Response to Intervention.
3. Experience with small group remedial reading instruction.
4. Ability to coordinate and supervise reading program K-5.
5. Ability to collect, analyze, and present a variety of assessment data.
6. Evidence of successful experience of planning for and implementation of elementary classroom instruction.
7. Evidence of recent successful experience working with at risk readers from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
8. Evidence of recent course work in areas of reading/language arts, social skills and science.
9. Evidence of successful communication with school staff, parents and students.
10. Experience working effectively with a broad range of ability levels using developmentally appropriate methods and expectations.
11. Curriculum integration experience and ability to work with a team of teachers in creating and implementing new curricular programs.
12. Experience or willingness to participate in Sheltered English Techniques and/or GLAD training.
13. Willingness to participate in parent meetings beyond the workday.
14. Training and/or experience using computers as an instructional tool.
15. Experience in administering various tests – DRA, MAP, WASL, DIBELS, STAR assessments using a rubric, etc.
16. Evidence of successful utilization of Make Your Day.
17. Training and/ or experience with CORE Reading Academy.
18. Training and/ or experience with Heggerty.
19. Training and/ or experience with state ing. For example, Time and Effort s.
20. Training or experience with creating and maintaining a Rank Order.
21. Punctual and consistent attendance.
Job Description:
1. Prepare class assignments and show written evidence upon request of immediate supervisor.
2. Provide an effective program of instruction in accordance with curriculum and consistent with physical limitations of the location provided and needs and capabilities of individual or student groups involved.
3. Attend and participate in faculty and team meetings.
4. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
5. Establish and maintain cooperative and positive professional relationships with other members.
6. Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
7. Explore and implement different curriculum and teaching strategies as identified through building/grade level adoption process.
8. Support district and building goals by participating in planning, training, implementing and evaluating effectiveness of programs, grants and curriculum and teaching methodologies that school participates in.
9. Encourage parent involvement, participate in parent involvement activities and maintain good relationships with parents.
10. Maintain records as required by Federal and State law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
11. Implement the requirements of IDEA, Sec. 504 and ADA in the education of students with disabilities.
12. Manage and complete time and effort, state ing, and associated tasks.
13. Implement Make Your Day with fidelity.
14. Other duties as assigned.

The employee is required to taste and smell. Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F +. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
