Kendra Scott Hiring for Art Director – Photography + Video – Relocation Assistance Provided at Austin, TX, California Full Time

The Art Director of Product Photography + Video is responsible for leading a team of talented photographers, retouchers and a samples coordinator to develop best in class product photography and videos for the Kendra Scott brand. This individual must be experienced in both product photography and retouching, passionate about lighting and prop styling, and have a strong ability to effectively manage time and tight deadlines. This role also works with external video partners to plan, direct and deliver video for the Kendra Scott brand.

Responsibilities

• Oversees art direction and execution for all product shot photography for Kendra Scott brand.
• Develops brand standards in partnership with Sr Director of Creative Services and ecomm team for web flats, creative laydowns, and product videos and ensures standards are met in every shoot.
• Manages 5 direct reports (2 photographers, 2 retouchers, 1 samples coordinator), as well as managing external vendors as needed.
• Develops visual boards with lighting, product and, when needed, prop styling direction to communicate vision to Sr Director of Creative Services and fellow Art Directors.
• Proactively provides clear art direction for the Photography Team through visual boards that detail background material and color, lighting, styling and retouching and works with the team to bring this vision to life.
• Manages external videographers to produce quality, on brand video content for the Kendra Scott brand.
• Gives external videographers art direction pre-shoot as well as edits and feedback upon receipt of video edits.
• Works with external vendors to develop videos for the Kendra Scott brand including but not limited to design studio videos around collection launches, Wholesale Market videos and in-store experiences (Color Bar, engraving, etc).
• Comfortable storyboarding for video shoots to help bring a concept to life.
• Available to travel as needed for shoots should they be needed on set to help direct a videographer.
• Develops internal brand standards for all product photography and ensures their success across all product photography assets and video
• Proactively assesses current website assets and opportunities for enhanced photo/video assets on PDP’s, landing pages, and other web pages as needed and actively develops updated visuals.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as an Art Director, or a blend of years as Product Photographer + Art Director at a fashion company with ecommerce presence.
• Passionate about managing and developing a talented team of photographers and retouchers; strong coaching and team building skills and experience managing a team of 3+ individuals in a creative department.
• Has a sense of urgency when it comes to delivering best-in-class photography and video assets for the Kendra Scott brand.
• Experience shooting video and directing videographers shoot product video as well as on-model video.
• Expert level skill in Photoshop, excellent lighting, photography and retouching skills.
• Strong eye for composition as it pertains to product styling and image cropping.
• Responsible for overseeing the Samples Coordinator role which manages the receipt of hundreds of SKU’s with fast turnaround deliverables; this will require helping the team with timelines, negotiating handoff dates, communicating with Merchandising, Ecomm and Product Departments as needed daily.
• Must be able to quickly work through large projects while simultaneously ensuring that artfulness and finesse are present in all product imagery for the brand.
• Thought leader in how to innovatively show our product through images and video. Brings unique and on-brand ideas to the table in terms of photography and video standards and deliverables.
• Ensures team is successful in meeting all deadlines.
• Experience managing project budgets and negotiating with external vendors.
