The Opportunity

We’re seeking a self-motivated and experienced Finance and Business Analyst to join our multi-award-winning organisation, forming part of our Corporate Performance team.

As a Finance and Business Analyst, you will be responsible for providing financial decision support services to various business units, particularly in relation to budgeting and forecasting, management accounting, financial performance reporting, and financial analysis.

As a valued member of our organisation, you will also be responsible for fostering our positive team culture, building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders.

Required skills & experience

To be successful in this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in Accounting or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent competence; demonstrated experience in corporate planning, and corporate performance management and reporting; demonstrated experience in financial and management accounting and strong understanding of financial reporting requirements and accounting standards; and demonstrated experience in budget management, risk management, stakeholder management and resource planning.

You will also possess advanced Microsoft Office skills including pivot tables, Power Query/Pivot and Power BI; excellent verbal and written communication; and organisation skills with ability to meet deadlines.

Key accountabilities include

• Partnering with business units to provide high quality support on financial management related matters to ensure effective financial management across Council.
• Collaborate with business units to provide inputs into the budgeting and forecasting process, which includes the development and implementation of the Long-Term Financial Plans (10-year budgets), annual budgets and Quarterly Budget Reviews (QBR).
• Produce accurate and timely monthly departmental financial performance reporting, variance analysis and commentary.
• Design, implement and improve financial and budget policies, processes and performance reporting based on the needs of internal and external customers.
• Provide specialist, authoritative and consultative advice on complex financial management matters, including analysis of projects for business units e.g. business cases.
