The Opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator Asset Management, the Asset and Accounting Officer will play a key role in maintaining appropriate business processes and systems to support ongoing delivery of best practice asset management across the organisation.

Required skills & experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess tertiary qualifications in engineering or asset management (or demonstrated experience relevant to the role); excellent computer skills and the ability to use relevant software (e.g. GIS, asset management systems, database management, spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling and computer based estimated); and excellent verbal and written communication.

Experience in asset management (preferably water and sewer); non-current asset accounting and revaluations; knowledge of local government infrastructure asset management processes, procedures and practices; and an understanding of the principles of financial modelling for infrastructure renewals would be an advantage.

Key accountabilities include

• Provide advice and analysis in the determination of future utilisation, preservation, upgrade and creation of assets and infrastructure
• Implement Council’s asset management framework, policy, strategies, processes and procedures
• Maintain Council’s asset management systems for water and sewer asset classes
• Undertake capitalisation and disposal of Council’s capital works during each financial year, including the updating of relevant asset registers and provision of financial movements to finance staff for the completion of annual financial reporting
