JOB OVERVIEW
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create job estimates, by planning out work sequence and calculating or collecting the necessary costing information including materials, manhours, internal or external services
Establish new and alternate sources of supply to meet KFL manufacturing requirements; obtain quotations from approved vendors for processes such as: machining, grinding, plating, heat treating, forming, etc.; award P.O. to suppliers based on price, performance, service, terms and delivery schedule
Create and check 3D Solidwork models of parts and shop tooling
Research material and process specifications as require supporting the manufacturing process
Ensure that all manufacturing and processes are carried out in accordance with KFL’s Manufacturing Approval Certificate, ISO9001:2000 and CAR’s 561
Evaluate technical drawings and data to determine the most correct and cost-efficient method to perform a specific task
May negotiate settlement with suppliers on rejected, damaged and non-conforming materials
Monitor and perform expediting functions as required to ensure schedules are adhered to
Jointly working with internal and external contacts on matters concerning product definition, tooling, inspection, scheduling and corrective actions
REQUIREMENTS
Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Diploma in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering program is desired
Three years related work experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
Working knowledge and experience of metal forming, heat treating, composites, machining, finishing processes, welding, and CAD systems is required
Computer skills required
Strong interest in aviation will be considered an asset.
