SUMMARY
Responsible for managing the Karcher North America (KNA) GL accounting, accounts payable, rebates, and fixed asset teams. KNA provides support to production, sales, product development, and other shared service functions (HR, IT, etc.). The SAP system is used globally by Karcher and three separate companies are maintained in SAP with various support systems. Provide immediate supervision to accountants within KNA accounting. Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and data. Receives assignments in the form of goals and objectives and establishes key initiatives to meet objectives. Provide guidance to subordinates to implement key initiatives in accordance with established policies. Assist in developing, modifying and executing company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Evaluate and plan the monthly Karcher closing requirements with staff and other business functions, ensuring a high level of accuracy and control are maintained.
· Reviews and approves various journal entries to ensure proper control and compliance within company policies.
· Coordinate completion of HBII financial reporting packages at year-end for all KNA companies.
· Perform in-depth analysis of financial statements and balance sheet variance explanations.
· Ensure accounting systems and processes are continually streamlined via process improvement that achieves greater efficiencies and accuracy levels.
· Assist with KNA treasury related functions, ensure proper and timely postings and reconciliation occurs.
· Develop and implement strategy for the accounting team that will drive growth and profitability initiatives.
· Oversee monthly balance sheet and income statement review with staff.
· Ensure staff provides assistance to finance staff and company management during business unit reviews.
· Assist with intercompany reconciliation and balancing between all KNA and other Karcher worldwide subsidiaries.
· Ensure all job functions within the accounting group have an assigned back-up and that sufficient process documentation exists.
· Accomplish accounting human resource objectives with staff; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions, enforcing policies and procedures.
· Establish individual development plans for each accounting team member and provide follow-up to ensure that the plan is implemented.
· Act as a liaison with Karcher Group Accounting and other Karcher subsidiaries on accounting matters and HBII reporting package issues as necessary. Communicate any changes in accounting standards from Group Accounting to the KNA accounting team.
· Trains staff how to understand and interpret general ledgers and financial statements.
· Ensure effective internal controls exist and are maintained within the accounting team and KNA Company-wide.
· Manage the year-end financial statement audit with staff; prepare and delegate audit work papers and audit responses for external auditors.
· HBII and Karcher Compliance: Responsible for maintaining assigned accounts according to Karcher standards. Review and monitor all monthly reconciliation’s of financial data and related journal entries for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness.
· Special Projects: Assist management with special projects.
· Policies & Procedures: Responsible for establishing and/or documenting policies and procedures for the finance department and the company.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise assigned staff including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation and performance improvement plans.
