Director of Continuing Legal Education
The Kansas Bar Association seeks an innovative and strategic professional to serve the Association in the Director of Continuing Legal Education role. The ideal candidate will be an independent problem-solver, experienced event and program planner, enthusiastic team- leader, and have excellent organizational skills. They will be creative, have good business judgment and networking skills, and be proficient using technology.
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Duties:
o Direct KBA continuing legal education programs, including all related online and in-person seminars, publications, and other means of providing educational resources for members. Ensure that committees, sections, presenters, volunteers, and customers associated with CLE programs receive appropriate information and assistance.
o Work with KBA Sections and Committees to plan area-specific CLE programming.
o Oversee all marketing and promotion of CLE programs.
o Build and maintain online CLE on-demand library in cooperation with online software provider.
o Coordinate delivery of CLE written materials.
o Work with staff and committee to plan and coordinate Annual Meeting and other special event CLE activities.
o Serve as liaison to KBA committee(s) as assigned [including CLE Committee, Diversity Committee, Law Practice Management Committee]. o Maintain budget and administer financial aspects of CLE Department and Bookstore, including assisting in the annual budgeting process as well as tracking revenues and expenditures.
o Manage all financial, registration, accreditation, and evaluation records for programs.
o Supervise two full-time staff members: CLE Coordinator and Outreach & Programming Coordinator.
o Oversee author recruitment and management of KBA handbooks and related publications.
o Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Publishers Committee and Annual Survey Committee.
o Develop schedule and make determinations regarding editing, formatting, printing, and producing publications.
o Coordinate with third-party publisher to achieve publication goals related to legal editing, formatting, indexing, and final publication.
o Provide general proofreading and layout services of proofs and manuscripts.
o Oversee maintenance of the KBA Online Bookstore.
o Oversee marketing and promotion of bookstore products and publications.
o Maintain budget for KBA Bookstore.
o Supervise staff in their coordination of bookstore orders and inventory.
o Provide assistance and input to Executive Director and Board of Governors in order to achieve the goals of the Association.

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: Starting at $55,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience
Travel: Some travel and overnight stays in Kansas will be required for CLE conferences.
Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00 – 4:30 pm (37.5 hours/week) performed in Topeka office with opportunity for some remote work available. Occasional work outside regular office hours for events will be needed. Ability to work remotely when conditions necessitate is required.
