Job Description

We’re an Intermodal / Container Company looking for a full-time reliable Assistant Dispatcher to join our team by assigning routes to company drivers and coordinating shipments according to port deadlines ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. The right person will be able to multi-task and oversee scheduling, routes, and driver assignments as well as other duties that may arise in the office. This job will lead to the Head Dispatcher position.

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal, and written communication, organization, and strong problem-solving skills as well as attention to detail
• Decisive under pressure and time constraints, able to prioritize tasks by importance and necessity.
• Knowledge of local and regional geographical areas; accurately and quickly read maps as well as guide drivers with directions.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Email, Data Entry, and the ability to learn new systems.
• Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills
• Highschool Diploma or associate degree Preferred.
• Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs via email.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Primary duties include helping to dispatch trucks/drivers based on incoming orders, scheduling, routing drivers, discussing delivery services with customers, helping to schedule truck maintenance and working efficiently with the team.
• Responsible for ensuring the most efficient freight movement and cost-effective service as well as compliance with DOT and Safety regulations.
• Resolve transportation problems with urgency and professionalism, maintaining communication with drivers via phone and/or text.
• Responsible for printing / soring all related paperwork, data entry, answering calls and assisting other team members as required.
• Able to assist other team members when tasks arise.
• Able to be on call.

Pay is $23-$27 per hour depending on experience.

Hours: 8:30 am-5:00 pm

Knowledge of TMS dispatch system a plus, or with the ability to learn quickly.
