As a Python/DevOps Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology & Global Technology Infrastructure team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core Software Engineer and developer, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes the SDLC pipelines independently that run synchronously with appropriate systems for test driven development and quality assurance and creates secure and high-quality production code using Python.
- Proficient with Devops tools, design, development, software development tools and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Ability to work with Agile and scrum methodologies to process day to day tasks using JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint, for code development and Cloud deployments, using several other software tools like bitbucket, Jenkins etc.
- Technology Stack knowledge such as React JS, Django and Flask.
- Familiarity with MySQL Database to be able to proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies and adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience.
- Proficient in coding using Python.
- Hands-on practical experience in DevOps tools, including Software Development Life Cycle, CICD pipelines, code deployments and quality assurance tools used for application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience in automating manual validation e.g Selenium or cucumber, developing, debugging, writing test cases and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using software development tools Sonar, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence, IntelliJ / VS Code and Jules / Jenkins build, Selenium, Splunk etc.
- Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Experience with querying MySQL or similar databases.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React JS.
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
- Familiarity with technology infrastructure environments such as operating systems, networks, databases, storage, etc.
- Exposure to cloud technologies and private clouds.
