A fast-growing, family oriented service company is seeking a Controller to develop accounting policies and oversee all financial procedures of the company. As a Controller, you’ll monitor the company’s financial status, develop annual budgets and manage accounting transactions. To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with risk management. Ultimately, you’ll make sure we comply with accounting regulations, maximize profits and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

• Document, monitor and update accounting policies
• Ensure all payments are completed on time (including accounts payable and bank deposits)
• Develop and review quarterly and annual budgets for all departments
• Analyze and report costs and profits for multiple departments and completed projects
• Process weekly payrolls
• Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly state and federal tax filings for multiple departments
• Ensure company is compliant and accurate with all business and operating license renewals
• Work with external CPA regarding bi-annual and annual review, compilation, audit, tax filings
• Build risk assessment models to evaluate investments
• Report on financial status on a regular basis and create ad-hoc reports when needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems
• Perform internal audits and assist with external audits
• Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations

Skills

• 1 – 3 years of experience as a Controller or similar role
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures and legislation
• Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable and accounts receivable functions using Quickbooks Enterprise
• Experience with cash management and risk assessment
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Comfortable managing small staff
• Ability to manage books of several companies
• Capability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and research accounting issues

• Ability to work with tight deadlines
• BSc or MSc in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with construction of service industry is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
