About the Project

John Holland in partnership McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) have successfully been selected by Genex Power to deliver the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project, an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility. The Kidston Hydro 2 Project (K2-Hydro), is located in far-north of Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).

The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between the upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.

This Project received funding from ARENA as part of ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program and is a gamechanger for the clean energy industry worldwide as it is an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage. Want to get involved?

We are currently recruiting for a talented HR Advisor to be based on site for the Kidston project. The HR Advisor will report into the HR Manager on site.

About the Job

• Provide generalist HR advice to the Kidston Project which may include advice on people management activities such as on-boarding, training and development, performance management, remuneration and other HR matters.
• Manage inquiries and facilitate resolution of complaints on-site.
• Assist the Site Administrator with camp and travel bookings when required.
• Build positive and sustainable working relationships with employees, leaders, subcontractors and external stakeholder groups across the project.
• Facilitate meetings and engage with various business units to achieve desired outcomes.
• Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland & McConnell Dowell Joint Venture policies, processes, systems and procedures.

About the Person

• Degree in Business in Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations or post secondary training or TAFE certificate in HR, Industrial Relations or Employee Relations. Equivalent on the job experience will also be considered.
• Plus three years’ experience in a human resources role in the resources or infrastructure sector.
• Ability to work autonomously to resolve issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of national and state regulatory frameworks.
• Knowledge of contractual and commercial awareness of employment legislation including government policy.
