Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Inc Hiring for JDG Specialist (Teacher) – McKean HS Full Time

JDG Teacher position available at McKean High School. Our teachers assist at-risk students by providing classroom instruction, counseling, remediation, career placement, and follow-up throughout the students’ participation in the program. JDG Teachers must be willing to complete all requirements to obtain State of Delaware School-to-Work Transition teaching certification.

This is a full-time position working 12 months per year: teaching during the school year and participating in training sessions, committee meetings, and student follow-up activities during shortened work weeks in the summer.

NOTE: This is not a State of Delaware school district position.

Responsibilities Include:

• Teaching the Jobs for Delaware Graduates curriculum for JDG classes
• Promoting a safe, stable classroom environment
• Providing a learning environment that is conducive to individualized and small group instruction
• Developing lesson plans and instructional materials
• Conducting on-going assessments of JDG students’ learning and progress
• Providing JDG students with counseling, remediation, career placement, and follow-up services / referrals
• Organizing and maintaining accurate and complete records including grading, student activities and achievements, and attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience with various computer applications
• Ability to organize and manage complex duties
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
• Acceptable results from drug screening, criminal background check, Delaware child protection registry, National sex offender registry, and tuberculosis (TB) testing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with at-risk youth
• Previous classroom / education / teaching experience
• knowledge of child development issues
• Degree major in education, social service, or counseling

Salary based on education and experience. Starting range: $41,000 – $45,000. Excellent comprehensive benefits package included.
