What this opportunity involves:
The Assistant Property Accountant is responsible for supporting the Landlord Finance Manager in delivering outcomes for the Finance Department.
This is an entry-level accounting position and includes a mix of accounting-based reconciliations and administrative duties.
Key operational responsibilities:
Assist the Finance & Property teams with finance and administrative tasks including but not limited to:
Operational ResponsibilitiesPeriodic head lease reconciliations of recurring charges against account statements received from landlords
Monthly verification of payments to landlords against documentation submitted
Annual Outgoing reconciliations – both head and tenant reconciliations
Daily receipting
Arrears reporting
Rent Roll Reconciliation
Other adhoc analysis and supporting tasks as required
Customer ServiceWorking pro-actively with internal stakeholders to achieve outcomes and resolve issues as required
Process development & improvementTo identify areas of improvement and work with the broader team to continually improve and innovate
Operational ResponsibilitiesReview processing work, monitor accuracy, ensure adherence to policies and procedures – address any issues
Ensure the application of adequate and appropriate internal controls
AttitudePositive outlook
Set the standard within the area by actions, not words
Encourage thought and discussion
Set the tone, plan, monitor/review, take action
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
This is an entry-level accounting position and includes a mix of accounting-based reconciliations and administrative duties. It is acknowledged that at this stage of your career your experience may be limited.
EssentialTertiary education (or near completion) in accounting/finance
Excellent communication skills – telephone, written and in person are essential.
Computer literacy in standard office products such as Word and Excel.
Must be able to ‘own’ responsibilities and processes.
Must show initiative and a willingness to learn.
The ability to work within tight deadlines and to prioritise workload
DesirablePrevious experience in a business context would be advantageous – this may have been achieved through vacation work in a relevant industry and/or part time work while studying
A keen interest in the Property Industry
Please note: This position is being offered initially as a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to covert to permanent.
