The Finance Manager is responsible for the control, coordination, and business management support of the import/export handling, bulk liquids, warehousing/domestic operations and customs brokerage business in the United States. This position will be based in Edison, NJ, and reports directly to the CFO – North America. This will be a hands-on role that will lead the company’s day-to-day accounting, cash receipts, and cash disbursements functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage the functional team leaders (2) and staff (15) including coordinated activities with other US departments, other global offices, and the off-shore shared services center
• Oversee the month-end/quarterly/year-end close processes and annual independent audit
• Review journal entries, including those related to gross margin, SG&A expenses, capital assets, leases, and intercompany debt and working capital accounts
• Support annual independent audits and occasional global internal audits and related requests
• Evaluate accounting processes for controls and efficiency improvements
• Coordinate with FP&A director on weekly, monthly, & annual cash forecasts
• Facilitate and monitor weekly results versus targets for working capital and net debt

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred
• Logistics industry experience preferred but not required
• Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and/or auditing
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading and developing a medium-sized accounting staff
• Experience with emphasis on accounting operations, consolidations, and financial and operational internal accounting controls
• Experience working within an international setting and with different cultures
• Strong working knowledge of technical accounting literature and its application to revenue recognition, business combinations, strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Capacity to work with cross-functional peers and other members of management
• A positive outlook, a natural intellectual curiosity, and a drive for continuous improvement
• Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including advanced Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Ability to apply a broad range of accounting principles, practices, and procedures in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with databases, financial reports, and accounting software
