• Bachelor’s degree in special education from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom experience in special education.
• Valid Alabama teacher’s certificate in special education.
• Knowledge and awareness of appropriate techniques of test administration, assessment and diagnostic aspects of evaluating students.
• Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of special education law and procedures.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required s, correspondence, and/or financial information.
• Physical strength, stamina, agility and acuity to perform job responsibilities and essential functions.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
