Luxury Jewelry Brand seeking a Freelance Accountant

The hours are Mon-Thurs 9-6:30pm and Fri 9-1pm

Onsite – Long Island City

Duration: 3 months 

The most important thing we are looking for is someone who was working in finance with a retail brand and SAP experience.

General Business

· Ensure compliance with statutory authority and audit requirements.

· Maintain the integrity of Accounting system (software), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times.

· Ensure all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times.

· On a monthly basis conduct balance sheet reconciliation, where inconsistencies to reconciliations emerge take remedial action or refer to relevant personnel as appropriate.

· Update “chart of accounts” monthly to reflect account management activities.

· Collect relevant data/information for use by insurance broker.

· Prepare monthly financial reporting package.

· Develop a system to manage and control inventory to ensure the accuracy of physical inventory.

· Financial performance analysis; forecasting and reporting, produce monthly, quarterly and yearly variance. schedules to explain movements between actual, projected, budgeted and prior year results.

· Various day-to-day financial and operational projects as they arise.

· Ensure timely reconciliation of all intercompany accounts and balances.

· Manage cash flows and merchant services.

Finance Administration

· Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls, while promoting innovations to improve processes and procedures pertaining to the department.

· Ensure the monthly reconciliation of all ledgers and sub-ledgers.

· Analyze business performance/results, providing feedback to Senior Management.

· Track and monitor revenue for accuracy, verifying it against the sub-ledger reports on a monthly basis.

· Ensure that revenue is allocated correctly, taking corrective action where inconsistencies arise.

· Ensure monthly accruals are adjusted to meet the demands of the business.

· In conjunction with the Managing Director negotiate competitive rates with insurers, personnel track, and monitor and manage insurance claims.

· On a monthly basis monitor and track debtors to ensure they are consistent with contract conditions.

· Ensure that debtors are monitored and collections are consistent with set company time frames.

Budgeting / Forecasting & Reporting

· Coordinate and prepare annual budgets, including operating and capital expenditure budgets.

· Ensure the accurate preparation/reporting of monthly financial results in strict accordance with Company deadlines.

· Ensure any variations to budgets and forecasts are explained in management reports, including any future potential exposures to the organization.

· Ensure that end-of-year statutory accounts report is finalized by a specified date and presented to Directors for review.

· On a monthly basis ensure that hire purchase and leased activities are accounted for and reported to Directors.

Regulation & Statutory Compliance

· On an annual basis reconcile gross wages, group tax, payroll tax, superannuation & worker’s compensation against general ledger.

· Ensure that monthly group and payroll tax is completed.

· Collect and collate all necessary documentation in readiness and preparation of company tax returns.

· Coordinate state registrations/sales taxes and other compliance for store openings.
