Jasper Mountain Hiring for Teacher K-8 at Jasper, OR Full Time

School Information: Jasper Mountain operates a school at both agency sites, SAFE Center & Jasper Mountain Center. It is a K-8 private school operated by Jasper Mountain, a private non-profit agency which provides treatment services for emotionally disturbed children in residential and day treatment settings. Jasper Mountain School is registered through the Oregon Department of Education as a Private Special Education Provider. The school works closely with Springfield Public Schools and specializes in students with serious mental health and behavioral issues. Work Site: Jasper Mountain School – 37875 Jasper-Lowell Road Jasper OR 97438- Located 15 miles south of the Eugene/Springfield area.

Hours/Days: The Full time Teacher position for 2022/23, school operates on a year-round calendar, 200 day school year beginning 8/01/22 (191 instructional days, 9 teacher work/grading/development days). Summer School starts July 1st. We hope to hire on or around July 1, 2022

Qualifications/Duties: Successful Teacher candidates will possess the following qualifications that support Jasper Mountain’s vision and educational services:

Oregon Teaching License or equivalent required and Special Education Certification a plus.

Experience in working positively with troubled students.

Teach smaller sized, multi-age classrooms.

Ability to provide individual, small group and classroom instruction.

Ability to plan and teach individualized programs for special needs students.

Ability to develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) for identified students and conduct/participate in IEP meetings effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community.

Ability to work closely with the multidisciplinary team to improve the student educational process.

Have demonstrated ability to establish a sound system of classroom management and the ability to work collaboratively with classroom behavior/treatment staff, creating a therapeutic learning environment.

Experience and understanding of Response to Intervention.

Have effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Participate in schedules staff meetings and planning sessions.

Assist with student testing.

Other duties as may be assigned.

Note: Agency practices include use of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) non-violent crisis intervention approach for de-escalation and safety. Training provided.

Compensation: Salary depends upon education and years of experience in the field and has a range of $43,488 – $55,664. Benefit package applies, including 100% employer paid health insurance for the employee, dental, vision, Aflac, 403b, training funds and generous paid time off.
